For our final project in Cameron McNall’s introduction to form class at UCLA Design | Media Arts we created our own take on inflatable structures. For my piece, I created a 3D rendering of my form using Blender3D. I then projected a 2D template of this rendering on to large pieces of thick .7mm painters plastic. This plastic was then cut out and stiched together using packaging tape. I added a zipper entry found at the local Home Depot for easy entry. A collection of sandbags were used to hold the whole thing from blowing away. The interior consisted of two chambers connected by a short corridor. The design was loosely based on an infinity sign. DMX lighting was also incorporated to create the effect of a breathing organism.
